ORGANIZED CRIME = WERNER ENTERPRISES

Check out www.truckersreport.com

Go to: FORUM

and than Go to: Report a BAD Trucking Company Here

and than Go to the thread: Werner compared to C.R. England.

Someone posted this thread and wrote if Werner ever calls you, you should call the organized crime unit with your local police. The thread in the truckers report forum defines Werner's organized crime. From a customer perspective, Werner cannot be trusted. Werner treats their drivers as bad as their customers. It sounds like whoever wrote that thread understood R.I.C.O. I paid Werner to deliver my load to my warehouse within 8 hours; the driver needed at least 14 hours to deliver my load from his last stop. My delivery was late, but my driver was in DOT log violation for driving over his hours to get my load to me asap. Werner refused to pay the driver, who happens to be a friend of mine. Werner lost my account for future deliveries and the information in the discussion on "www.truckersreport.com - forum - report a BAD trucking company - Werner compared to C.R. England" really explains the why and the how. I can't believe how I was treated by Werner's sales staff when they promoted low cost deliveries and I paid for it. Werner's drivers are penalized for their sales staff's lies and organized crime. My Werner driver was so exhausted, he slept in his truck in my warehouse yard for hours. Werner doesn't promote safety and they lied to me about my sales contract which I paid for and cancelled (and they did not even pay the driver for delivering my load). They lied to my company and stole money from their driver. By the way, my driver faxed me his paycheck stub. Werner paid him .20 cents per mile for his other loads he delivered that same week. (He was hired as a new driver at the agreed pay of .26 cents per mile). So they lied and stole money from their own driver. After I had already paid Werner for my delivery, they paid nothing to the driver who delivered my load. I would like to hire the driver myself for my employer, but I can't. It's really bad....don't trust Werner for anything.

I would not go so far as to position Werner alongside the Mafia/Organized Crime cartels.I am sure in your view they are the same.I think not. Werner is a trucking company.

Like others, they may not pay the best. However, I agree with Grow Up's comment. It is trucking-it is what it is. I have witnessed some companies treat their drivers better than others. A driver's positive attitude and persistence to correct a bad situation goes a long way.You can always quit or worse get fired and then go off to complain away at Thetruckersreport. Ever notice, there is a report about that site on Ripoffreport.com detailing their constant trashing of many trucking companies-not just those training cos, like CRE;CRST;Swift;Werner etc.Report a Good Co+Report a Bad Co HUH?

I thought all trucking cos are bad? Lots of contradictory info and web ads from those same training cos being trashed on its site.Noticed the same modus operandi (Police jargon-method of operation) at Complaintsboard.comI don't think I would pay for ads on your site for trashing my company;unless, some incentives are present for prospective drivers-new hires.Call it what you will.I doubt Werner is affiliated with La Cosa Nostra+Organized Crime.I suggest you call FBI office in Omaha,NE (Werner HQ) to report your findings.FYI:I don't or ever have worked for Werner.I drove briefly for Swift after MS Carriers was bought out by Swift. My comments RE:Swift appear among other drivers on Topix.com Swift Transportation forum.Just look at Google Ads on this site for driving jobs:Nationaltruckdrivingjobs.com?

That site lists the same training cos like Werner. You have to train with some company;unless, you have a relative who owns their own truck O/O who is willing to train you.Not many folks are in that position and train with Werner etc.I trained 15Yrs ago with a now dead and gone co in Springdale,AR: Cannon Express.Tyson Reefer Co was in same town and PAM (another with many compalints) down the road in Tonnitown,AR. It truly is what you make of it to a big extent!

Women Be Warned n Be Aware of WERNER ENTERPRISES

Women Be Warned n Be Aware of WERNER ENTERPRISES

Women Be Warned n Be Aware of WERNER ENTERPRISES!!!

I went to Werner in Lithia Springs, GA as a female student driver. I went there initially requesting a female trainer, but due to the lack of female trainers, I was encouraged to sign-up for co-ed. That is a BIG MISTAKE IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT BECOMING A CAREER TRUCK DRIVER . . . OMG . . . 4 out 6 trainers assigned to me thought I was a legalize lot lizzard!

After my first bad experience with a Nasty, Gross Looking, Freaking Old, Fat Buzzard, I requested to have a female trainer only . . . that never happened. Therefore, I was put on a truck again with another Freak, with rotten teeth, constantly picking his ###, nose, ears . . . OMG . . . Just another gross individual. I didn't want to sit in the same truck, driver seat or touch the dang steering wheel. I stayed on that truck for maybe a day and a half . . . Got literally sick . . . took a personal leave of absence.

My first trainer informed me he was dropping a student and informed me to request him to complete my training; and he would request me as his next student to pick-up.

Oh no that is not possible because the egotistical, power-hunger SDM felt insecure and overlooked. She felt I was scheduling my own trainer which is not permissible. And, she attempted to send me on another wild goose chase with another unknown trainer.

Okay ##### . . . you and WERNER can continue scheduling strangers who can not work togather as a TEAM and you will eventually have a MAJOR LAWSUIT due to Sexual Harassment or Workplace Violence.

WERNER Enterprises needs a better SAP . . . staffing and placement system to team trainers, students and co-drivers who have some common interests, tolerance and respect for working togather in a safe an non sexual oriented environment.

Why 6 Trainers:

The first trainer, I lost him when I went on PTO. Very good trainer with mad skillz behind the wheelz! Yeap, I should have listened to him and not got off his truck for PTO. We work well togather as a TEAM. We had great conversations and respect for each other. Hopefully, I will find another trainer like him when I decide to sign-on with another company.

The second trainer, dismissed off his truck due to company and safety violations.

The third trainer, thats the nasty fat, buzzard, looking for a "ladyfriend to team with". . . Sexual Harassment.

The fourth trainer, my buddy, he resigned because I was too sick to get on the truck with him and he already had plans to leave Werner, but was going to stay around until I finished training. I wish him much success in his new endeavor . . . Peace, Love, and Prosperity.

The fifth trainer, my friend and co-worker got off his truck because she felt scared. This man was having too many problems at home to be out on the road in a semi-tractor-trailer. She got off his truck and a few days later they assigned me to his truck . . . Okay . . . Nothings changed. I got in there. He started talking about he wanted to go out to Hooters and have some fun with me. There were many sexual conversations I was trying to avoid hearing. I was trying my best to let what he was saying go into one ear and out the other ear. He said he was happy to see me get on his truck because he thought I was sexy and not fat and ugly like a lot of female drivers. I am like OMG . . . not again!!!

But, I was able to get off his truck due to the fact he started playing with my jake-brakes on 459 right there where DOT had pulled over a vehicle. We got to the shipper in McCalla. I called it in to the night dispatcher. Security escorted him off the premises. I went home, drained of momentum, spiritual and physical health. I could not speak once I arrived home. I had the pneumonia for two weeks. As I was recuperating, thats when my first trainer called and invited me back on his truck.

I returned to WERNER on 02/15/2011 . . . not thinking there would be a problem for me to return on board with my first trainer. . .on to the sixth one.

The sixth trainer, I never met; I refused another trainer; I was NOT allowed to have a female trainer. So, I resigned and left WERNER ENTERPRISER because they really don't understand matching-up individuals to team whether it be trainer and student or co-drivers.

Ladies be warned and beaware when you sign-up for co-ed.

If there are any women out there reading this and you want to share your bad experiences at WERNER ENTERPRISES, please send me a note.

Best Regards,

Road Diva aka HotDollBhm

sad how that is. yrs ago when i trained for werner i had 3 co-eds.

2 of 3 qualified. the 3rd would have. but my truck was changed out and i was making my exit at that time to be o/o. my first intructions for any co-ed was to inspect the truck.

every corner every closet. nothing was hidden. then if they thought they wanted to train on my truck they were told they could change anything to be comfortable, it would be home until they left for pto or qualified. they were all good students.

i made sure they had privacy and time to themselves as time and loads allowed. it was a great experience for me and i hope for them. i knew werner was only trying to clear hotel rooms and felt bad that many were waiting to long to get their carreers started. i would do it again.

this is a good occupation for both genders. i hope you are on your way in this profession.

Thanks for the heads up, I was really doing research on this company before sign

Guest

Wow I'm thinking about going with werner but I want a female Trainor to. I'm glad I saw this review.

Guest

Omg! I am in training right now and am about ready to quit.

My husband and I are on the 2 plus 1 training program. I have been sexually harrassed by one trainer multipal times right in front of my husband. What they told me was " the least you need to say is hi, if you ever see him again". Wth!!

Safety supposedly told this guy to never contact us again. Huh, he called my husband today lol. Crazy *** people they have training these new impressionable people. Not to mention the trainer we are with now.

Ugh...

I'm not usually a violent person, but I really want to hit something. Sorry if this was hard to read but I have so much to type and my fingers aren't moving as fast as my mind.

I hope you find or have found a great job where they treat you with respect.

P.s. I'm sout sorry all that happened to you.

Guest

Could you post your email? I'm on with a trainer right now

Guest

As a former male student with *** #502953 i agree its not always a female trainer to magically appear when a skank like u wants one. I pick my nose & ears too.

I only had 4 trainers when i was there.

I resigned on the spot when on my 8th wk when i had like 8 hrs left they called me into office about some OLD stuff where my TRAINER failed to secure trailer door & it swung & hit another trucks hood day #1 of driving. It went from don't worry about it to "were expending your training 76 hrs".

So i quit & went to Swift & ran over more stuff than i care to remember:-)

Guest

Werner was the first company I started with as a newbie to this game back in 1997. They were an AZZHOLE company then and seems like nothing has changed.

My first trainer was a female. The first day on the truck she informed me that she only stops to bathe once a week. And she smelled like it. I informed her that I shower everyday, sometimes twice a day.

But I MUST have water on my *** at LEAST every other day. So that was the compromise. While she was driving, I could not sleep in my bunk which was the top bunk, while the vehicle was moving. I had to sleep in her bunk which stank to high ***.

Once she started talking about how I take too long in the shower, she started knit-picking me and one day I just snapped and told her about her funky ***. The fact that she stank and the fact that I hate sleeping on her bunk, even tho I would put layers between me and her nasty bedding. The fact that I'm grown and not a child and especially not HER child. And I will be treated with the same respectful that I've always have shown her.

Needless to say after that I was off her truck. Then they stuck me with a racist white man. Who was civil towards me, but the way he talked to this one African dude at the place we were dropping a trailer at, it was clear to me that he was a racist. So when it was time for me to take my road test, after driving in the latest models of freightliners of the day, a 1997 model I think a Cascadia, they put me in this clunker that sounded like it was held together with spit and duct tape.

The guy testing me acted like he hated women in trucking, black women....and just women in general. I was so intimidated by that sorry piece of *** truck, and pissed off by his general attitude that he failed me. As I knew he would.

Funny, how all these years later they are trying to recruit me to join them. I would never work for Weenerwerner.

Guest

I rerequested a non-smoking female only trainer.

If you think female only was hard to find lol try this one.

I was told it would be a long wait at home unpaid or at motel paid.

I said that's fine.

I chose motel.

6 paid weeks later (only thing required was a morning meeting)

I got a trainer. So I would have to call *** on the "would not give you a female trainer part". *You just didn't want to wait.* I am giving what you said the benefit of some truth because.

Male or female some people are just pigs. So if you want to complain don't add lies to your truth because it makes everything you said look like a lie.

Guest

I considered my training time with Werner something I was determined to survive; like I didn't want to let it beat me.

What any aspiring driver needs to know is that Werner is about bottom line profit, and absolutely NOTHING else. So, if you treat your training days like a fraternity hazing ritual, and you make it through, you can go on to make some decent money. If you don't, Werner has no reason to care. When you are out with a trainer, Werner and the trainer profit from your driving. As long as you don't hit anything or get cited, they couldn't care less what happens to you--whether you pass or not.

This what you need to know if you're about to get trained by Werner: The whole training experience is about you getting trained in all facets of the work, and the stuff that's most important is backing, working the qualcomm communication unit, and dealing with getting in and out of appointments picking up or delivering trailers. If your trainer doesn't have you practicing all those things every day, demand another trainer because you're just getting used to drive.

And another thing. Screw Werner's rule that tries to forbid recording equipment. If you are being exposed to cruelty or off-putting sexual conduct, capture it on your phone or a digital recorder and go after them legally.

You might as well do what I'm doing: use Werner as your entry point into the industry and plan to seek better prospects after a year with them.

Hope this helps.

A former driver for Werner Enterprises has retained my law firm (Law Offices of James M. Sitkin) and the Oakland, CA law firm of Goldstein, Borgen, Dardarian & Ho to investigate whether Werner has paid drivers all lawful wages required by the California Labor Code.

Our investigation is evaluating information about pay practices for work performed by Werner drivers in California during the last four years (whether the driver was a resident of California or not). As part of our investigation, we would like to talk with current and former Werner drivers about their work experiences at Werner in California. This is not an offer to represent you or other Werner drivers. However, our investigation of potential class action claims could benefit from any information Werner drivers may provide to us as part of this ongoing investigation.

Please phone or email me if you would like to talk. I look forward to hearing from you.

Plain and simple, All trucking companies that train people right out of any Driving School are about the same. Low paying, treat you like a kid ( no matter your age), and don\'t care about you, your family, your problems.

Werner is no exception. If you can, don\'t go thru there driving school. You will have to get a loan to pay for the schooling, just like any other private school but if you go through Werner you will be made to sign a contract to work for them for at least one year. Once you complete the school and the 275 hrs.

(or what ever it is now)of training, and become a solo driver they will start to reimburse you for the loan (they do the same for any private driving school) but if you go thru Werner and break the 1 year contract, no more reimbursement. FIND A PRIVATE DRIVING SCHOOL. They will still reimburse you. Werner makes there money in a couple different ways.

1- They get paid by the government every time a trainee is signed off as a solo driver. The trainer and yourself sign the release papers. You get to wait at a terminal for a truck, and Werner gets a bunch of money. 2- The recruiter (ie.PROFESSIONAL LAIR) will tell you that you\'ll start off at .28 to .30cpm but you will start at .25cpm.

Even after 1 year or say 2 years you might get up to .27 to .29cpm. Any other company ( once you have 1 or more years ) will start you at .36 to .42cpm so who\'s making the money at Werner. NOT YOU !!! 3- Exactly 90 days after you have become a solo driver, you fleet manager will start hounding you to become a trainer ( NO THATS NOT A MISS PRINT, 90 DAYS ).

99% of drivers with less then 1 year OTR have no business training a green horn, let alone 3 MONTHS exp. Even after all these years it still boggles my little mind. 3 MONTHS. 4- Any other thing they can think of.

You will see for you self. unfortunately!!! OK, afraid yet? Here\'s the deal.

If you get a good trainer it will make or break you. If you get a good trainer that ya\'all get along and he teaches you well, lets you bump docks and has the patience and will let you practice backing in a empty truck stop, and teaches you SAFE DRIVING. Stay with that trainer. If you go home, or what ever, chances are the next trainer won\'t be anything close.

I was a trainer with Werner in 2007-08 and it was the same, if I got a good student I did every thing I could to keep him on my truck. If you start training, and then you decide your get tired of green horns trying to kill you, and you tell your fleet man you want to go back to solo, he will do everything but put a gun to your head to keep someone on your truck. Once you go back to solo be prepared for the consequences, you will be doing a lot of nothing. YOU WILL BE PUNISHED.

They will cut your miles BIG TIME. You WILL be punished. If your serous about going out OTR pick a company, deal with the training, do your 6 months to 1 year with them to get the experience ( remember, what companies consider experience starts once you get your own truck, not school or training). Then talk to drivers from all different trucking companies at T/S or shipper/receivers and get a job with a real company that actually respects and pays there drivers.

Their are companies out there that DO REMEMBER that if it was not for the drivers getting freight from point A to B that they would not get paid. Good Luck, Be Safe

Training with werner

Training with werner or any other company is all about the same.how well you do is entirely dependet on who you get for a trainer. Some love teaching new drivers what they need to be a profecinonal driver and take alot of pride in it.others dont want to team and they dont do well as solos.they tend to be lazy people.and they cant put up with having two bosses on board like on a team truck they tend to be control freaks who use other people for what ever they can get out of them ow well thats life the world is full of dirt bags .you can always get a diferent trainer i met guys who went through two or three.before finaly upgradeing.but newbies need exsperiance and not alot of places to get it.you will know with in a week or so what your trainers going to be like.if your unhappy keep it to your self.students have been left out in the middle of no were.always try to get off in truck stop or terminal never get off that truck with out your wallet and cell phone EVER.some of these trainers are real dirt bags.always have your sdm's phone # if you get off a truck they will have anouther one pick you up and bring you to a terminal.keep what you bring on a truck to a bare minum so you can cary what you have with ease.be prepaired to be out there awile.your recruiter will tell you ow six weeks max.BS it can be done.but it wont i was away from my home for fourteen weeks.we had break downs road closures snow storms trainers home time you dont go home you go to a motel.one thing i would like to mention werner will tell you if you stay on the truck for 275hrs and upgrde you will get a 500 dollar bouns after taxs it realy about $225 but once you get half way throuh 137hrs you can take ten days pto at your full weeks pay but you wont get it untill you get back on a trainers truck and you could get a *** trainer so if you get a good one my advice stick it out and get upgraded. well good luck to the newbies trying to get into this industry it has some fine people an some not so fine people just be smart watch your back.

i've been wth werner for 13 years,i started with them and i'll retire with them,i've been an o/o since 2003,i'm very happy with them and i've had a good experience. my trainers were good people with lots of patience,a bad trainer can make a huge impact on your entire career, dont let this happen! if you are unhappy with your trainer, let your sdm know, they will work with you, stick it out, your career is going to be the rest of your life, wether your with werner or not, dont let a bad experience ruin your road to happiness.

i'm new,i'm shipping out to warner in allentown PA tomorrow.

from the reviews i have read, seems like alot of people, making up B.S. OR DIDN'T READ THE INFO WARNER PROVIDES!

i'm 31, i'm going in head 1st and not expecting much. actually. i really don't care if i make a nickle! really! i just want some experience then i'm out of their so i can get a job back home locally.

no one local will hire unless i have experience. i hear all about the big money over the road. it can stay over the road. maybe some dummy just out of high school will make it. not me!

with all hopes, i get a good trainer for 6 weeks. Thats my concern!

Guest

To all the newbees, training is hit or miss. All the training companies suck, the trainer you get will make all the difference in the world. If you get a good trainer right off the bat stay with him. Don't take PTO or request a new trainer because of some piddle little BS. The two of you are locked up in a truck the size of a bathroom for 8 to 10 weeks and will get on each others nerves now and then, but if you get one you can tolerate chances are you won't be that lucky a second time.

Moral of it A GOOD trainer can make it a good experience or they can make it a

LIVING ***. I you get a good one ride it out, don't go home and risk another trainer.

Good Luck YOUR GONNA NEED IT

Um ... you signed something, didn't you?

Werner's not going to just start garnishing wages without legal, contractual justification to do so. They have too much to legally risk. You're "nephew" didn't fulfill something on his agreement with them, you signed for him and are now held responsible for his tuition.

Instead of trying to fight this, go to your nephew and make him man up!

And NEVER co-sign with family on monetary contracts ... EVER!

The problem is drivers management

Drivers management is an army of maggits and parasites that do very little that a driver could not do with a high tech cell phone or a laptop. Clarence Werner has chosen to underpay the people who bring money into his company. An army of fleet managers and other associated maggits who do very little that a driver actually needs rob the driver of industry standard wage rate. The typical driver here can expect to work 80hrs a week and clear 500.00. The home time is terrible. The pay rate is way below the other major carriers. Expect to do 2 times as much work as anyone else and not make didly squat. This includes sleep deprivation, being rushed to do your work or waiting for excessive amounts of time. This list goes on where the drivers management company cuts driver pay at every spot. Clarence Werner takes care of the wrong people and underpays the drivers. Drivers management needs to go the drivers need at least .33 per mile all miles.

Sad truth is a lot of these *** fests are true. Not all of it, but a bunch.

Dispatchers are grabbing the same smelly end of the stick too. The biggest change to the industry that will improve it, and that goes for Werner and all the rest of the majors is take away the Federal money for job training. The Feds pay these companies for students. They don't care if you stay or go, they certify you, they get paid.

Free labor.

If they invest in your training, they will make the effort to keep you."ie better pay" They then have skin in the game. The cost of training should be companies not the tax payer.

I have read some of your complaints. the same things happened to me. i thought that was part of being new and you had to put in your time. i have been with werner for 1 year 9 months now. i am very happy with my job. after i put in my year they moved me up. i have no tickets or accidents im sure that helps. i run teams from indiana to california every week. we are out 4 days and home 3. and have the option to work 1 extra day if we want. the pay is good to, we gross around 1100.oo per week just to cal and back. one payacheck was 1406.00 when we ran to pennsylvania too. werner is a good company to work for if u have the heart to stick it out.

my son is 24...very good driver and werner is wanting him to drive 4 them...his dad taught him to drive when he was 16 ,,he rode with his dad and learnt well...he done his traing and passed with flying colors...he has his own truck and been to each job run like he was suppose to...they have messed up his last ck and sent only 50.00 to get him by till next ck....wont be enough to get by...give him advise on what he needs to do....thnx....

Guest

guess i thought thats what you go through as a new driver. i do know that i have been having major problems trying to get the truck fixed. the terminal in Indianapolis needs to be torn down and all new people hired.

Guest

So it's ok for them to treat people however they want and conduct themselves as crookedly as they want as long as they only do that to new drivers?

Right.. good luck selling that line of ***.

I hate this job

i thought werner was supposed to be a good company with a solid reputation. boy was i wrong...

i got lucky with training. both trainers i had were cool. i hated living in such close quarters though.

they lied to me so i would go with TCU. told me i would make .31 i make .23 and the most i could ever make with this account is .27.

they are always saying werner cares we care. what a crock of ***. im sick as *** right now and they dont care about anything but money.

i thought i would tough it out and get some experience with these guys. no way... i am quitting asap.

i could make more at almost any company. not only is pay ***, but they cant keep me running screwing up appointments all the time. thats with this account anyways.

the good thing is i generally get long runs (over 1000 miles) then i wait around for several days for another 1. they have only planned a load ahead 1 time! in training they always did that.

You are so wrong. He didn't say he didn't want to sit he work it's the *** lying.

Same thing is happening to me. I know I have to start at the bottom but this company keeps screwing me. Recruiters lied about my route to get me in the door. Payroll screws up my money and makes me send the same form 5 times.

Student services is a joke and takes me off my truck on July fourth weekend to wait for another trainer. Both of my trainers were horrible humans. Can't get the loads iright. How much does one guy have to take?

You are nothing but a number with this company. The word in the street is they don't care about their people, only their trucks.

It's true. This company really treats you like ***

Not happy with Werner!!

Terminals showers are not cleaned 24 hrs a day. During your orientation, they feed you finger foods for breakfast and pizza for lunch ( same thing every day) that's n Atlanta,GA and at night you got to find and pay for your own dinner.

There motels are not kept up to keep you comfortable while ur there. They need to realize if it wasn't for us drivers, they would not be able to keep there doors open. We are the reason freight gets to the cust and they should take better care of all there drivers!!!!!

Oh if you run team, don't even think that Werner will let you bring your child with you on the road- it won't happen No thanks to safety. Safety runs Werner !!!!!

Werner is getting worse and worse. I cant believe he things i am reading and the things that i know for fact that werner has done. I hope robert synowicki and james mullen know that they are only living large while the shitpile company they milk is building a serious crowd of haters

The reason you can't take your kid with you on teams is because it's not legal. And safety should run this company.

Think about the fact that I drive by thousands of families a week. If I wasn't being safe I could kill one or several. What if that was you family?

My advice is to stay out of trucks since you don't like safety and for that matter leave cars alone too. ***.

Werner is the devil

Jacob Elkins is my Fiance's trainer. he doesnt let him sleep doesnt let him eat.

and doesnt let him to to the bathroom. Werner is abusing him, and treating him terribly. he is saying that when he did got to the restroom one morning while they were parked he is saying he abandoned his truck. how are you abanding your truck when someones in there?

Where the heck would he go? he is probably also lying to his supervisors or his safelty team and they are treating him like he is a criminal on death row. wont let him go anyhere.

he thought he had to take a random drug test at 7 am it its now 330 pm and still he's just been sitting there all day. waiting to hear what they ahve to say wont let him get something to eat wont let him go get his student managers number from the truck even though they told him to call them

Another heads up before I close this forum. Take what ppl say with a grain of salt.

Everyone else's experience is THEIRS, and theirs for a reason. Some ppl as posted on here had/have good times with Werner, some could be lying or brainwashed. Someones standards could be lower than yours so they may claim you're the problem. Whatever, just know when you're being mistreated or hustled and don't accept it, stand up for yourself.

FYI Werner has an ongoing lawsuit pending right now bc of the poor wages paid ($350 for 70hr work week) to their once trainees from years ago when I 1st posted this. I'm waiting to be compensated soon! If you have to settle with Werner or another starter company hang around for no less than 6 months just to gain your experience. You may keep money flowing better on a dedicated lane, rather than running 48 states as a solo driver.

As a team we stayed running! We got mileage bonuses every month. But those bonuses is just money they should be paying you with your weekly pay anyway! We ran so great they brought us into the main terminal in Omaha to record us in a video for the company about teaming.

Lol we declined but it was mandatory. We got free lunch from the cafeteria and a Freightliner Classic XL die-cast replica signed by CL Werner himself. It's cool now, though at the time we'd rather have been paid.

Hey don't give up on yourself.

So many negative Nates & Nancys claim that you can't make 50K or more a year truckin and be home daily. I figured out on my own that you can! I'm 53cpm and average between 2300 - **** miles a week (and there's companies that pay more than that!!). Keep your DAC clean and don't hop around companies.

My goal was to make good money trucking and to be home daily, and I'm now living that. As I stated I went thru he** but, it paid off.

Hopefully you find a mentor that can help you obtain your goals so you won't have to experience much *** as those that did it alone. Safe Travels Newbies!!

Original review Dec 20, 2010
I have only a few hrs of driving left & I'll be halfway done w/training. If I were to quit and either go home now, or finish the few hours & go home for the 7 days to never return will it go on my dac report? Will I still get my 7 days pay from Werner? Oh and just to mention, my first 20 days I was only allowed to shower once a week, and I've only backed 3 times. My trainer is terrible. If this is what trucking is about then I don't want any parts of it. It feels like a hillbilly boot camp! She told me that using a GPS was a bad idea & I shouldn't use Werner's directions. YET she uses GPS on her phone everyday, & she hasn't taught me how to read an atlas. She said CBs are terrible, YET I overheard her telling her bf that she wants 1 for Xmas...I'm sick of being run a muck. She said she actually only makes $6.10hr! There's no way I'm gonna stick around and drive up and down mountains & steep grades in terrible weather for chump change & w/half a**ed training! I had a company call me for an interview days before I came out here. I think I'll give them a call as soon as I get home. I just had to come out here and experience it for myself. I really thought it would be better than this. Is it really worth it? Does it get better? What do I have to look forward too?

Omg this way sooo long ago...I went thru ***...quick heads up everything eventually got better. I was VERY lucky to get issued a new Freightliner Cascadia (1 of the main reasons for me sticking around with the company).

Ran solo for a month then ran teams with a guy that had a lil more road experience than I so my pay went up. After 11 months he left the company, a few months after him leaving I left too. My pay jumped up .10cpm leaving Werner for Averitt Express. Great company, if you can start with Averitt do so!

You'll be home EVERY WEEK during training. You'll train for 5 weeks.

Look into this company they hire recent grads!! Good luck!!

Guest

In trucking school right now, is there any up to date forums on trucking and companies

Guest

*Update*

I decided to continue with training. I am now finished.

My second trainer was awesome. He let me do a lot of backing, he used a GPS, CB Radio, and also had XM Radio & we showered often. Now I'm just waiting to process out. I have a whole new and positive outlook on trucking.

After a year or two, I plan on finding something local. Thanks everyone for your input!

Guest

me and my wife have worked for werner for 5 years we never had a problem with this company the real problems are the ones who complain!!

Guest

all company, like swift , werner, central hiring new drivers or student driver it is big risk for them ,trucking job is not a fun ,it is hard ,you have to be split from familly, you have to take hard time to finally notice what is trucking ,you can change job go to another company but you need expirience like everyone ,we all did same way but if we decide to be company driver or owner operator what is different you have to drive many hours and be split from home and familly, sitting at home or truck stops it is not going to bring you any money in this job ,owner operators have to run like crazy ,truck payments ,insurance, tires parts registration etc, if you quit after training or you think you will find good driving job after just 30 days driving WHO WILL HIRED YOU, to be honest NO ONE, new drivers are terible ,i used to be ,finding place for pick up loads, driving up to hill down to hill, take care about log book ,time, shower, take lunch etc, etc,,but after couple years or just one year you are getting better, and in this job if you do not have milage you do not have good money, so it is simple ,all company who hiring new driver have good trucks that is for sure, over the qualcom send macros for fix and soon you come in to the terminal they are take care, if it is to bad you jump on to another truck, keep rolling, and we all know new drivers do not have a lot millage that is for sure so what to thimk you just start in company ,good payed ,good loads, hahahahha, you have to work hard to have everything, winter storms ,broken truck, dot ,home time, money you earn in trucking it is *** hard money it is not easy for traine to sleep when new one drive, ask your self how good you driving after 30 days, how fast you can park, how good you are to find local direction ,take care about another in traffic, do not kill anyone, low briges, restriction, driving in bad weather,be lost, everyone always talked about good things in trucking what about bad, it is many bad things so think ARE YOU REALLY FOR TRUCKING JOB????do not blame on companies, all companies what hiring new drivers are good, WHO LIKE TO GIVE A JOB FOR NEW DRIVERS THINK ABOUT THAT???? go on youtube and see people recording new drivers from cab and laugh on them how they are park ,and no one get out and help them , those companies give you everything and money my friend coming with expirience and good driving record, GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

Guest

Werner is a starter company - you start working there, get your year or two in and then go to a reputable company (the ones that require you to have experience). You get paid hardly anything because they're taking a risk on you.

So many people start trucking and realize that it's not for them so they get shafted too a lot - it costs money to hire all those people but there has to be somewhere for people to start, somewhere to *** out all the bad ones - think of it as basic training- they don't send new recruits straight to the battlefield, if youre gonna drop out most likely it's going to be in *** part. Think about how many newbies get in their trucks and run them hard because they don't know what they're doing yet or how much more their insurance is because their drivers don't have experience.

When you go to the more reputable companies they want drivers that know what they're doing because instead of having new shiny trucks that they replace all the time they spend that money on better drivers that take care of their equipment. It's simple really - you want to make money then you have to put in your time and start at the bottom.

Guest

I did 6mos. with Werner, but my trainers were pretty cool.

they both taught me driving and backing. Don't forget you get to grade them -be honest, it is what you make it.

and if you don't like your trainer, request another one. don't let anyone sidetrack you

Guest

Warner is a company just like any other all that matters to them is that the load is on time and there is no damage to the shipment and the truck. A monkey can betrained to drive. Sick it up and be a man.

The problem is drivers management

what can someone say about being underpaid by 35% Clarence Werner's solution for this is to try to run his drivers around like crazy. Drivers management is really the problem. They host an enormous army of unneeded corporate maggits and parasites that do almost nothing a driver couldn't do with a good cell phone and or laptop. The people who do all the work and bring the money into this company are paid like ***. They are usually rushed to do their job in an unfair amount of time or they sit around in unpaid detention for hours and hours.

Werner Trucking employment misrepresentain

Beware of answering employment ads from WERNER TRUCKING. They will send you to a school called TRUCK DRIVER INSTITUTE in which they have an interest (a WERNER TRUCKING sign is also on the front of the building).

After you give all of your background information such as driving record, employment history, etc., you are told that you are an excellent candidate. They arrange for a loan and you are told WERNER will pay 80% when hired.

The last week of the school WERNER sends you a pre-employment packet and gives you a starting date. A few days after you graduate and obtain your Commercial Drivers License, someone from WERNER calls and tells you that you are not being hired for this reason or that. So far, my son has been given two different reasons.

Now you have no job and a $4800 loan to pay. The school has their money and WERNER doesn't have to pay a dime. Nice little racket they have going. So apply at your own risk!

All I can say was Werner treated me good but all recruiting departments lie to a driver that is the first thing you have to recognize about the industry. My first driving job was Stevens Transport try 3 months with a trainer then a month with two trainees together then you got your own truck. There are way worse companies than Werner just remember that.

Guest

everyone is bad mouthing werner but honestly it was the best driving job I have had I grossed 2500 a week as a trainer I got my cdl school thru swift which is 100 times worse the werner I lived n a motel for 2mths they didn't pay for *** had to go thru the cdl permit *** for a mouth even tho all I needed was the drivin part when I got to the driving part I was put in with 4 other drives in the truck and my trainer was a racist pig I new more about the program and driving then he did since I have been around it for my whole life

Guest

Feb 2009 Experience good. Werner sucked!

Enjoyed driving 48 state, BUT low pay, low miles, no money to live on, had to argue for home time. when 'no' loads, asked to drive Dollar General loads or Family Dollar.....which unloaded by hand.

Over all, drive for a smaller company that 'may' treat you right and teach you the ropes. RESEARCH, RESEARCH and TALK to other drivers before going with any company.

Guest

I have to agree with "thumper" in many ways, this is not a job for average the Joe smoe. I went through Warner 8 weeks over the road training after I got my CDL through a local school.

Now the first let me say this! this was back in 2000 I know many moons ago but I'm sure ain't *** changed. The first training was really cool and and bought all my meals and smokes and understood if was rough being a student with very limited training money you received, now the second train was from *** and truly a racist SOB even though he knew not to bring that stuff my way or he would of been put out of his own truck. I hated that trainer so much I use to hope he didn't wake up from sleeping, I know that sounds bad but its the truth.

Either way once I completed this and was assigned my truck and a dedicated sears route it wasn't to bad after that but driving is truly a acquired taste. I since went to work for other companies and even gotten a new trade but since the economy went to s h ii t, here I am back to square 1 and will need to go through this again. The difference from then to know is I know what to expect from OTR training and I still know how to push a truck down the road cause I do have 4 years solo doing this work. The only reason I'm going back back is to get current experience back under my belt and go drive local after 6 months.

My advice for for all new drivers is this! never let your dispatcher force you to drive tired when you need to sleep, and and time your with a training get a quick understanding between both of you that if you respect you as a man the same will be done and your their to learn, do act like like your a driver straight out of school cause technically your aren't until you turn those miles.

Guest

Ive been a driver for werner for 10 years with the last eight being a trainer. As a student, you should understand something about trainers.

We are people too. Some are good and some are bad. Sometimes you team up with someone where both of you really click, and sometimes it doesn't work out so well. The best advice that i could give to students would be to do an honest self evaluation.

Students who go into trucking with no more thought to this career than if they were searching for a hamburger place to work, for shouldn't even apply. Trucking is a lifestyle commitment that should not be taken lightly. Do you want a career where your life is in constant jeopardy? Can you handle the rigors of a life that has absolutely no SET sleep schedule?

Sometimes you might go for 2-3 days with no shower. Fast food, no time for physical activity, bad weather, the list of negatives continue. For many, this is an extreme lifestyle change. The many students who came to my truck who did not consider these facts end up being miserable.

It requires almost a military toughness and discipline to be a successful driver. If you don't have that kind of fortitude, you shouldn't apply. I am highly educated which is somewhat unusual for a driver, but i have embraced this lifestyle. It works for me.

I don't want to do anything else. It is my job to *** out drivers who shouldn't be on the road because of safety issues. My job would be easier if potential students would just ask themselves if they have the unusual stamina and mental toughness to be a driver. It's not for everybody.

Those who do the most complaining seem to be those who are the least qualified. The strong survive the hoops.

Good luck. Be safe.

i was hired in the fall of 2010. i was at the indy terminal.

the hotel was a joke. they would not let you eat down stairs with the other regular people.i was picked up on a tuesday nite by my new trainer, he was a owner/operator out of texas, he swear at me for the next five days, he did not stop to eat at all. we did not shower til sat.late afternoon.no hot food or coffee.the Werner company is a good to work for. my sdm/did not do his job.

i asked for another trainer! he said he could do nothing for me, so i resigned from my job in boston, i was from dekalb il.MR. C. L.

WERNER, needs to have some look into the indy area for a better hotel to stay at.the lady who was in charge of the program was no good, owner operators should not train new students. they are not company people. my sdm was a joke.the recutiar for northern il./area, his first name is Dave. he was very good at what he told the new drivers.i was very proud to be part of the werner company, the student/driver program was a let down to me.

i went thur the rite chain of command.again i asked for a new truck to my sdm.

he said no.i would love to try werner again, but i will not go to the indy terminal. good luck, mr, werner, b.wootton

I have been driving for almost 10 years. I have been with werner for the past 3 years.

The best way to make money with Werner is to try to get on one of their dedicated accounts, or after you get at least one full year of experience ,become a trainer. Policy allows you to train after 3 months but who are we kidding? You don't know enough to train another driver that soon.

Trucking is what you make it. Control your time, money, and most of all your thoughts, and you can make some money at this company.
